wearing a wig is no big deal- Really!

I have just been reading some stuff that makes wearing a wig seem like the most scary thing in the world – oh what – it so is not!  It feels no different from wearing a headband, a bandana, a hat or even sunglasses!  I have worn a wig now every day for 4 or 5 years and never, but never, have I thought it might blow off, slip or do anything else embarrassing.  If it was that bad then nobody would wear one and if that were true, why is there such a huge industry in wigs!

All the well made wigs come with adjustable hooks so that the wig cap can be made smaller if necessary and when mine starts to get a bit loose, as I have a tiny head, I simply put a few stitches in the back inside bit to tighten it again.

The only circumstance that I can envisage a wig coming off is if you snag it on a tree branch or if you dive off a board in a swimming pool or if you get your head lampooned on somebodys umbrella.  In which case if all that happened is your wig came off, you’d count yourself lucky.

So stop fretting, you are perfectly safe wearing a wig and if you, like me, saw the Salon disasters on tv last night, you’d definitely choose a wig over a weave which pulled out and infected the poor girls scalp – Ouch! Ouch!

Accessorise your look with a wig!

You might totally happy with your own hair (lucky you)!, but you may, in spite of this, fancy a change from time to time.  With the party season just around the corner and money tight because of Christmas, you might like to consider an option that you can use again and again.  A wig!  More versatile in many ways than extensions, and certainly far less damaging to your own hair, or your wallet!

Imagine it.  A totally different style, length, colour.  Hair you can put on and take off in 2 seconds.  Wear a wig to a party or special event, and then put it away again for the next time.  What could be easier!   The cost of going to the salon to get your hair done everytime you want to look special, is nowadays prohibitive for loads of people, so for the price of one visit to the salon, you could buy a wig that would last you forever just about!

Welcome wig wearers to my new blog!

Who wears a wig?  Why wear a wig?  Is it a girl thing or do guys wear wigs too.   A popular belief is that only people with hair-loss issues wear wigs.  This is so not true.  The vast majority of my customers wear wigs because they are fed up with having to spend ages every day, trying to tame unruly hair and get it into some sort of style.  Or, they have already wrecked their own hair by straightening, colouring and other abuses.  One customer told me her hair was like cotton wool after years of straightening!

It is true however, that most of the guys wear wigs because of early balding which is an issue with the younger generation.  But, the fashion among black girls to wear wigs rather than their own afro hair is being more broadly interpreted as a preference for straight sleek hair rather than a colour issue, and therefore equally applicable for white girls with frizzy, curly or wavy hair.  So, we are seeing more white girls and women opting for the totally A quick & easy fix.  You puts it on in the morning and you takes it off at night, same as your make-up, false eyelashes, whatever!
